Inaugurated in 2016 in Marrakech, the Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden (MACAAL) is one of the first spaces dedicated to contemporary African art on the continent. Rich in a collection of over 2,000 works, it encompasses a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, and more recently, photography, installation, and digital arts. MACAAL hosts temporary exhibitions, artist residencies, and educational programmes, fostering encounters between artists, the public, and cultural stakeholders. By combining creativity and innovation, the Alliances Foundation and MACAAL actively contribute to promoting African art on the global stage.

Founded in 2009, the Alliances Foundation is committed to promoting culture and contemporary art in Africa and internationally. Its mission is to promote and support emerging creation while fostering enriching dialogue around the artistic expressions of the continent. Through flagship initiatives such as MACAAL and programmes like the Lcc Program and Passerelles, it works to make art accessible to all and broaden cultural access to diverse audiences.
